A new website for the "Oshiete! Galko-Chan" manga series recently launched this week, making the announcement that a TV anime adaptation was in the works. In addition, the website also revealed the key visual for the anime, the key staff, and the series release date, which is scheduled for January 2016.
Anime News Network reports that the "Oshiete! Galko-Chan" anime series will be written and directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi. Kenji Fujisaki is designing the characters. Studio Feel is handling the animation production.
Because Studio Feel is producing the series, fans are making predictions that the series will be in a shorter format.
"This is likely a short as Studio Feel is also working on another show for winter," said Stark700 in an ANN forum.
Though nothing was confirmed about the format, the slice of life nature of the original manga series by Kenya Suzuki suggests that a shorter format will be in store. The "Oshiete! Galko-Chan" manga series was originally released on Twitter before being picked up by Kadokawa's ComicWalker digital manga service. Kadowkawa has also released two manga volumes of the series.
Anime News Network describes the story of "Oshiete! Galko-Chan" as follows:
"The 'somewhat stimulating? Short comedy' manga follows the everyday lives of three high school girls who are close friends: Galko, Otako, and Ojō."
It goes on:
"Galko is a slightly foul-mouthed but good-natured girl who is popular in her class. Her hobby is film appreciation. Otako is a girl who sits in the corner of the classroom, but for some reason is good friends with Galko. Ojō is an airheaded girl who often talks with Galko and Otako."
