SM Entertainment Reports Spike In Profits From 2014

SM Entertainment saw increases throughout 2015 in comparison to 2014, according to the company's latest recorded earnings.

According to SM Entertainment's most recent posted earnings, the South Korean entertainment label broke records after grossing 236 billion won (around $203 million USD) in sales and 34 billion won in operating profits.

The third quarter earnings posted by SM Entertainment showed immense growth for the K-pop powerhouse.

A company representative revealed that the international popularity of SM Entertainment's K-pop groups in particular helped the company.

"Sales were fueled by the strong global performance of the label's artists - TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), and EXO," said a rep. "Global sales went up 42.4 percent on year (January-September.)"

The K-Pop Herald reported on Monday that SM Entertainment's operating profit jumped 41.2 percent from the same period last year, and that sales in general rose 13.6 percent.

The SM Entertainment official also expressed that the company expects to see continual growth.

Along with the label's K-pop groups, the agency also has continually benefited from subsidiary S.M Culture & contents, which has produced Korean television shows and musicals.

SM Entertainment is South Korea's largest entertainment company, and home to some of Korea's most popular celebrities and K-pop acts. The company was founded in 1995 by Lee Soo Man.
