While promoting "Deadpool" with Collider, Fox writer and producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that the first "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer will be attached to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" when it opens in theaters this December.
"I can in fact confirm that information. Our first trailer will be on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It's our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser but it's certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it."
It was widely believed that the "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer would debut with Ridley Scott's "The Martian" but it didn't push through, despite there being footage that was screened at San Diego Comic-Con months earlier, according to Screen Rant.
Director Bryan Singer has confirmed that the movie will have a runtime of over two hours and that the trailer will pay homage to all six "X-Men" installments.
"The X-Men movies I usually keep under two hours, but this one I may actually let be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies," Singer said in a statement published by Screen Rant.
"Apocalypse" will close the arc that began with 2011's "X-Men: First Class." It is also the last "X-Men" film for series stars Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, who both have reached the end of their multi-picture contracts with Fox.
"Apocalypse" stars Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Till as Havok. It will introduce newcomers Alexandra Shipp as young Storm, Tye Sheridan as young Cyclops, Sophie Turner as young Jean Grey, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Lana Condor as Jubilee, Ben Hardy as Angel and Oscar Isaac as the titular villain.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" arrives on May 27, 2016. "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
