A live action movie of "Resident Evil" is set to happen, which would be the end of the series. However, it has also been announced that an animated movie of the same title could come out in 2017.
According to a report by Kotaku, the upcoming animated "Resident Evil" movie is expected to be written and directed by Makoto Fukami and Takanori Tsujimoto.
As stated by the site, the film would also feature the story of Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers and is said to be a reboot of the "Resident Evil CG" films.
In addition to the new animated "Resident Evil" movie, Bloody Disgusting revealed that the live-action film "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" starring Mila Jovovich is coming and is slated for a Jan. 27, 2017 release.
The complete synopsis of the said movie is listed below.
"Picking up immediately after the events in 'Resident Evil: Retribution', humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began - Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse."
"In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion."
Although there are no official words regarding the process of the new "Resident Evil" animate movie as of now, the CG film is expected to come by 2017 as well.
