Former SS501 Manager Charged With Embezzlement

A former manager of SS5O1 main vocalist Heo Young Saeng is facing charges of embezzlement for allegedly siphoning more than $73,000 from artist profits, reports The Korea Herald.

Media outlets earlier this week revealed that prosecution is pressing the charges against a Mr. Jeon after he signed a deal selling the singer's pictorials but allegedly pocketed the amount.

According to reports, Mr. Jeon allegedly signed a deal with agency Kstartnet in 2013 to provide Heo's photos in exchange for half the profits. After receiving the profits to the tune of 85 million won or around $73,000 on his personal account, Mr. Jeon was said to have spent it as if it were his own money.

Heo Young Saeng is part of the legendary five-member Korean boy band SS501 which debuted back in 2005. He has pursued solo activities apart from the group, including landing a role in the KBS 2TV sitcom "I Need a Fairy" and showing off his skills in the musical "The Three Muskeeters." The lead singer then entered the military in 2013 and was discharged from the army in late July, during which he switched from his longtime agency to CI ENT. Meanwhile, his group SS501 has been on hiatus with members enlisting in the army in succession.
