At GOT7's fan meeting in Manila, Phillipines on Saturday, the group were performing "A" when a sudden burst of fireworks at the front of the stage nearly hit member Choi Youngjae in the face. From the video, it seems like the group were not made aware of the stage pyrotechnics timing, since the other group members were also standing near the front of the stage.
Ten seconds into another video of the incident taken from a different point of view, Youngjae is making a heart sign with his hands to the crowd and when the fireworks shoot up from below him. He then runs to the back of the stage hunched over while another member rushes to take care of him. Fortunately, the fireworks only dazed Youngjae for a short time, and he quickly regains his composure and runs back to the front of the stage, and continues singing the rest of the song.
Luckily, Youngjae avoided suffering any injuries. After the fan meeting, Youngjae uploaded a video on Instagram letting fans know that was fine. The caption on the video translates to "It's not me.. I'm fine haha".
This is not the first time an accident like this has occured. During a Big Bang concert, Seungri was engulfed by a firework on stage that exploded directly underneath him. He barely managed to jump out of the way in time, but he was rushed to the hospital for treatment for his burns.
