"Avengers: Age of Ultron" cast member Paul Bettany discusses themes of loyalty in the upcoming Marvel crossover "Captain America: Civil War."
In an interview with Collider about his directorial debut, "Shelter," the 44-year-old Briton touched on his "Avengers" character's loyalty.
"What I love about my character is that there are so many places for him to go. I think he's very interested in what it means to be human and what love is," Bettany revealed. "The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love. Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things not make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that."
It has been confirmed that Vision will be on pro-registration team, however recent rumors claim that he would later on turn against Stark. Screen Rant speculates that Vision will side with Iron Man in the beginning of "Captain America: Civil War", but will switch sides when he drops "logic" for "love" when he develops a relationship with Scarlet Witch.
"Captain America: Civil War" picks up where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity," reads the film's official plot summary published by Marvel. "After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
The movie is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from a screenplay by Christopher McFeely.
"Captain America: Civil War" release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
