Sony has officially announced a release date for "Gran Turismo Sports," a video game which could possibly serve as a prologue to the much-anticipated "Gran Turismo 7."
According to Master Herald, it is possible that Sony is releasing "Gran Turismo Sports" since Polyphony Digital is still in the process of developing "Gran Turismo 7."
Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said that the company isn't ready to announce details about "Gran Turismo 7's" release date yet. He did confirm that "GT Sports" isn't a prologue version of the seventh installment, explaning that more can be added into "GT Sports" as DLC, which was not possible in the previous prologue games of "Gran Turismo 4" and "Gran Turismo 5."
"We're not announcing Gran Turismo 7 at this stage," Ryan said in a statement published by PlayStation LifeStyle.
"Fair to say [series director Kazunori Yamauchi] has been making these games for some considerable time now. I think it's reasonable to assume that something else might come down the road. Is it a Prologue? No, I think it'll be more than that."
"The old days, when the games were offline, the experience was defined by what's on the disc. You had a distinction between a Prologue and a full GT, it was very stark. When the game becomes more of an online connected experience, that distinction blurs. This will be much more than a Prologue type experience."
Meanwhile, Polyphonic Digital CEO and creator of "Gran Turismo" Kazunori Yamauchi promises that the game is worth the wait.
"I think the quality of the sounds in Gran Turismo 6 will be improved, but most of the work will be done in Gran Turismo 7," Yamauchi told Eurogamer last year about "GT 7's" release date. "The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4, I think is going to make an incredible difference."
