Fans Will Be 'Blown Away' With Jon Bernthal's Punisher In 'Daredevil' Season 2

Fans will be "blown away" with Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in "Daredevil" season 2.

IGN caught up with Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada at the premeire of the Marvel Comics Netflix series "Jessica Jones" and asked him about the possibility of Jon Bernthal headlining a solo "Punisher" series.

"I think we'd love to see something happen, but its way too soon to tell and we don't necessarily like to discuss which metrics we use to decide these things," Quesada explained. "But what I can tell you is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal's take on Frank Castle. He is...its one of those cases where its the character from the pages come to life."

Many are anticipating the "Walking Dead" alum's take on Frank Castle since he was cast back in June. Bernthal already debuted his character in "Daredevil" season 2's New York Comic-Con trailer, albeit his face wasn't shown.

Meanwhile, series star Charlie Cox gave an update on season 2's release date, and promised fan's won't have to wait too long to see it.

"It'll be the same timeline as the last show, so season two will come out about this time next year," Cox said in an interview with Empire. "Again, I'm imagining all this, but they'll probably do Iron Fist or Luke Cage at the same time, followed by the other one [of the two] in the first half of 2016 and then maybe Defenders in the second half of 2016 or the beginning of 2017."

Returning to their roles are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Night Nurse and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. Season 2 will introduce Elodie Yung as Elektra and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher.
