Studio executives may not have yet given the "Terminator: Genisys" sequel the greenlight, but the success of the film's recently-released DVD might provide a strong case for a follow-through movie in the near future.
This, according to Forbes, which pointed out that the DVD could provide the necessary "boost [to] Skydance Production's plans for multiple sequels and a TV spinoff series,"
The magazine noted the amazing visual effects and craftsmanship that went into the making of the film, particularly the manner in which "Terminator" star Arnold Schwarzenegger was "re-created" to look exactly like his original version in the series.
"...they didn't just lift from the original movie footage and alter it with CGI, they instead literally remade all of those scenes from scratch and figured out how to build a brand new version of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 1980s," the report said.
In an interview, "Terminator" visual effects supervisor Sheldon Stopsack explained that he and his creative team really made an effort to base their work on the look of the original movies, possibly laying down the groundwork for a "Terminator: Genisys" sequel.
"We were very mindful of the designs in every single aspect, and we wanted to do it in a very respectful manner, I suppose," Stopsack told Forbes.
"We obviously wanted to step up the game in the sense of bringing it into modern standards," he added. "But all of the language is very much in line with the original movies."
Meanwhile, Skydance may already need to set a timeframe for its "Terminator: Genisys" sequel, as fans of the highly popular sci-fi franchise are excited and looking forward to seeing the project materialize based on comments they posted on a previous Kpopstarz report.
"I loved it," Narcosys posted. "Especially when thinking about the time travel, causal loop paradox, what triggered the significant change in the time continuum and the T-800 sent to protect Sarah.
"I think the movie will be able to make sure you will understand that THEY will be going forward to stop skynet and stop matt smith from getting john has he did before this time," Cary David Hoffson commented.
"I didn't think there was anything wrong with Genisys and I look forward to the next one!" Jack Mack said.
Critics may not have given "Terminator: Genisys" rave reviews, but it seems that the film's producers will have to move quickly do a sequel - soon.
