IU Sings 'Zeze' At Concert Despite Controversy

Despite the controversy, singer-actress IU (Lee Ji Eun) sang her single "Zeze" for fans at a recent performance.

During her two-day concert named CHAT-SHIRE, which took place at the Olympic Hall in Seoul on Nov. 21 and 22, IU performed her controversial single titled "Zeze."

"Zeze," named after the five year-old male protagonist of the Portuguese novel My Sweet Orange Tree, has been criticized for its sexually suggestive lyrics.

Even though the lyrics caused a social media frenzy following the song's release, the 23-year-old idol+ sang the tune to the 6,000 plus audience who attended her concert.

On Nov. 6, IU apologized to the concerned fans about some songs contained on the CHAT-SHIRE album.

"Zeze" is not the only track that got criticized, her other single titled "Twenty-Three" came under scrutiny for allegedly sampling a Britney Spears track without permission.

However, IU received much support for her solo show with boyfriend Jang Ki Ha spotted in the audience, according to local news media reports.

It was reported that Jang Ki Ha remained and watched his girlfriend perform her encore until the time she went backstage.

IU still has a few more stops for her 2015 IU CHAT-SHIRE domestic tour, which include Busan (Nov. 29), Daegu (Dec. 6), and Gwangju on Dec. 13.
