Floyd Mayweather Sr. Backs Up Son Against Oscar De La Hoya; Says It's All Because He's Jealous

After Oscar De La Hoya went on a tirade against the now retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., it comes to nobody's surprise that the Mayweather clan will respond to that kind of trashing.

Just a few weeks ago, De La Hoya published a letter for Floyd Mayweather Jr., saying that boxing is so much better without the undefeated American. The issue of cherry-picking opponents was brought up once again and a lot more insults were thrown and even his legacy is questioned.

"Well, I think that De La Hoya is making a lot of smart remarks, but I don't know what the deal is, but he [isn't] right because Floyd [isn't] saying anything about him," Mayweather Sr. told ontheropesboxing.com. "When people get mad and envious and jealous, get mad out of their wits, Floyd [isn't] doing none of that stuff."

"Let me tell you something, it's only because Floyd whooped his ass! Floyd whooped everybody easily. [Manny] Pacquiao bust De La Hoya up and stopped him and little Floyd beat Pacquiao up like he was nobody, it is what it is. He fought De La Hoya one time and he fought Floyd at another time," Mayweather Sr. added in the interview.

Even before Mayweather Sr. responded to De La Hoya, his son was already able to hold his own by saying that the Mexican is just jealous since he was left out in the Pacquiao fight.

"I think he's jealous - jealous," Floyd said in an interview with David Mayo of MLive.com. "The thing is this, I mean, you see Richard Schaefer is gone. Richard Schaefer built Golden Boy. Honestly, who wants to do business with Oscar De La Hoya? I really care about a fighter's well-being. I'm just saying if Miguel Cotto was my fighter, if Canelo (Alvarez) was my fighter, they'd be a lot bigger than they are now."
