The Earth's mightiest divide in the first "Captain America: Civil War" trailer.
Except for Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, Steve Rogers' full team was shown in the "Captain America: Civil War" trailer. Meanwhile, nobody is seen on Stark's side except for his best friend James "Rhodey" Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine who seems to have been badly beaten in one of the movie's battle scenes.
Paul Bettany's Vision who has been confirmed to be on Stark's Pro-Registration team is noticeably absent from the first trailer, leading to more speculation that he has switched sides.
Bettany previously spoke about his character's loyalty in an interview with Collider.
"What I love about my character is that there are so many places for him to go. I think he's very interested in what it means to be human and what love is," the 44-year-old actor explained. "The only way one can guarantee one's loyalty is love. Loyalty is beyond logic, really. Logic doesn't really provide for loyalty. If your logic changes suddenly and things not make sense, you can alter your allegiance, but love stops you from being able to do that."
"Captain America: Civil War" picks up where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity," reads the film's official plot summary published by Marvel. "After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team."
"The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
The film stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Paul Bettany as Vision, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier and Don Cheadle as War Machine.
"Captain America: Civil War" releases in theaters on May 6, 2016.
