With Tom DeLonge out of the group, Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus recently revealed that they have the new album of Blink 182 in full steam, as they found the replacement in Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba.
According to a report from NME, Barker revealed how excited he is to have the new lineup in the group especially how well Skiba is contributing to the sound of the group.
"Matt's killing it," Barker said. "He's fun to play with and write with. We're just getting started but I think we've got like four or five songs right now that I'm really, really happy with."
In another report from Loud Wire, Blink 182 revealed that they have at least five songs lined up for the new album, which got some of their fans excited.
As to what the sound would be like for the group, the drummer claimed in an interview that it would have the perfect mix of Alkaline Trio because of the voice but still have the signature sound Blink 182 is known for.
"They sound different but still the same," he said. "Obviously, it's Matt Skiba singing so there's hints of Alkaline Trio, or at least Matt's contributions to Alkaline Trio, mixed with my drumming and Mark's voice and stuff. It's really cool and I really love what we've done so far."
As for the release date of the new Blink 182 album, the members revealed that they are taking things slowly for the disc, as they wouldn't want to rush things for the record that could potentially ruin their sound.
"The goal here is to come up with an album and just write," he added. "We don't put a limit on how many songs we're gonna write. [We just] write a bunch of songs and when we feel like there's an album ready, there's an album ready. You know, no pressure, no deadlines."
