'Five Nights At Freddy's' Theorists Gather On Reddit For Definite Answers

It's hard to believe that in just a year since it went live on Steam, "Five Nights at Freddy's" has become an extremely successful franchise, going as far as even yielding a movie adaptation.

Unfortunately, according to the game's creator Scott Cawthon, a year is not enough time to completely understand the story that he's created.

"Five Nights at Freddy's" fans have yet to give up however. A little over a month after the release of the final game in the series, the official reddit page for the series has begun an all-out hunt for the definitive "Five Nights at Freddy's" theory that explains the story from start to finish.

The call for the definitive "Five Nights at Freddy's" theory can be traced back to creator Scott Cawthon's comments earlier this year that he would not unlock the box at the end of "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" because no one had seemingly been able to put the pieces from the game together.

"But then I released part 4, and somehow.... no one, not a single person, found the pieces. The story remains completely hidden. I guess most people assumed that I filled the game with random easter eggs this time. I didn't. What's in the box? It's the pieces put together," said Cawthon in August.

Now in December, the "Five Nights at Freddy's" Reddit moderators have put together a contest where fans can vote for the best theories. Once the voting is closed on a particular topic, that theory "will be recognized as the true path the story takes according to this sub."

The first subject up for debate is the theory that the events of the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise is just a dream from a child.

Whatever is ultimately decided upon, hopefully Cawthon will acknowledge (as he has before) and confirm what is true.

In the meantime, I'm still trying to gain the courage to actually play the first game myself instead of hiding behind the wonderful let's plays on YouTube.
