With the NBA season in full swing, rumors of trades are already surfacing. One of the biggest rumblings involves Western Conference powerhouse Los Angeles Clippers.
Based on a report by the Los Angeles Clippers fan site clipperholics.com, the Clippers are now looking to trade former NBA Sixth Man of The Year Jamal Crawford.
As the Clippers struggle to rack up the wins, Crawford has hardly been efficient with a 37.4 field goal percentage and 32.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
As reported by cbssports.com, the Los Angeles Clippers continue to struggle despite reloading their roster this past offseason. With a standing of 13-9, this season has been their worst since trading for point guard Chris Paul.
When asked about the struggles, Paul said "We have to start winning now, but we've got to fix it, because it is not right. It is not fair to our fans, because we know we are better than this. We have never been like this, so we've got to fix it."
As per thescore.com, the Clippers signed veterans Josh Smith, Paul Pierce, Wesley Johnson and even traded for Lance Stephenson during the offseason as they aim to make a championship run. Despite these changes, the team has struggled early on.
Experts believe that the team desperately needs a back up point guard that can allow their dynamic bench players to handle the ball. Analysts say that Austin Rivers' shoot-first mentality cannot co-exist with volume scorers and ball-dominant players like Crawford, Stephenson and Smith. In addition, Rivers continues to be an inefficient 3 point shooter which messes up the team's spacing.
Given this, the Clippers have been rumored to be interested in New York Knicks point guard Jose Calderon to give their bench some outside shooting and much needed veteran leadership. This coincides with the Knicks' need for perimeter scoring as star player Carmelo Anthony has struggled to play through constant double teams. The Knicks are now rumored to be looking into trading for Crawford's scoring prowess to help carry the load for Anthony.
