Despite Laker fans begging for drastic changes, the struggling Los Angeles Lakers won't be firing their head coach anytime this season.
According to silverscreenandroll.com, although being second to last in defensive and offensive efficiency and having their worst start ever at 3-19, Scott still has the backing of the Lakers front office. As reported by L.A. Daily News correspondent Mark Medina.
"Byron Scott still has enough support from Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and vice president of player personnel Jim Buss that he is expected to coach through the rest of the 2015-16 season. Scott signing a four-year, $17 million deal last summer, the Lakers plan to evaluate his future once the 2015-16 season ends."
Scott has drawn so much criticism for his over reliance on the aging Kobe Bryant and his benching of future prospects Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell.
As slamonline.com reported, Scott said that Kobe Bryant has a right to take all the shots he's been attempting. Despite Bryant's dismal and career-worst percentages, Scott has given the "Black Mamba" a green light to take most of team's contested shots.
As per cbssports.com, Byron Sccot has moved young prospects D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle from the starting lineup to the bench. Prior to their game versus the Toronto Raptors, Scott informed the two young talents that they would come off the bench.
"They're both really young and they still have a long way to go, they have a lot of work to do," Scott said. "This change wasn't so much based on them not performing up to their capabilities, it is based on where we are as a team and that's why I made this adjustment tonight."
"We're 3-17 so obviously it's not working so I wanted to get some new blood in there, some fresh blood and see how those guys play. Five, 10 games from now there might be another change."
