Blink 182 Confirms New Album In 2016; Matt Skiba Ready To Take On Role Of Tom DeLonge

With Tom DeLonge out of the scene for Blink 182, the rest of the band thought about continuing with the band's legacy, as they are set to release a new album next year with new singer Matt Skiba.

According to a report from Consequence Of Sound, drummer Travis Barker confirmed in an Instagram post the new album from Blink 182 for next year, including releases for Antemasque, two EPs for Transplants and a solo album for himself.

Furthermore, now that Matt Skiba is in the line up as the band's guitarist and singer, Barker talked to NME and revealed how excited he is to have the singer of Alkaline Trio take the job of DeLonge and was shocked to see how great of an impact the singer has given them.

"Matt's killing it," Barker said. "He's fun to play with and write with. We're just getting started but I think we've got like four or five songs right now that I'm really, really happy with."

With the new Blink 182 album scheduled to come out next year, Barker talked to Loud Wire recently and talked how excited they are for the future of the band.

"They sound different but still the same," he said. "Obviously, it's Matt Skiba singing so there's hints of Alkaline Trio, or at least Matt's contributions to Alkaline Trio, mixed with my drumming and Mark's voice and stuff. It's really cool and I really love what we've done so far."

They had the mindset of creating a new album and moving on without one of the original members of Blink 182.

"The goal here is to come up with an album and just write," he added. "We don't put a limit on how many songs we're gonna write. [We just] write a bunch of songs and when we feel like there's an album ready, there's an album ready. You know, no pressure, no deadlines."
