Korn To Release A New Album Next Year? Heavier Sound Hinted By Munky

Korn is working on a new album and is scheduled to release the record anytime next year.

Guitarist James Shaffer, who is also called as Munky, revealed in a report by Pop Break that the new Korn album could potentially have heavier riffs and a whole lot of off-timed song breaks, as the band is currently in the process of writing down songs for the record.

"Keep the melodic elements of what we captured on the last record but really expand on the heavy riffs and get a bit dirtier," Munky said. "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that."

He also talked about how they managed to bring their old sound back in the upcoming release after they experimented with their sound in the last few releases, where they even incorporated EDM artists in their metal sound.

"It's about taking chances and going out on a limb," he continued. "You hear a lot of bands say how every album is a chance to reinvent yourself."

He claimed how they committed to that kind of sound and how they had to live with it and claimed that it was kind of a gamble in their part to see if their fans would like to hear the new sound or not.

"For us, I really feel like we've gone out on a f-ing plank because sometimes there's no turning back. You have to commit to it and sometimes it's like 'Eh, I don't know,' and you kind of let go and see what happens."

Although there are no official words regarding the release date of the new album from Korn, fans of the metal group may expect their disc to come out anytime next year, as the band is still in the process of completing the record.
