Stephen Colbert Likely To Be Pressured By CBS Amid Jimmy Fallon's Late-Night Reign?

Howard Stern had some insights about what Stephen Colbert may apparently face amid the low ratings he's getting and Jimmy Fallon's continued reign on late-night.

According Empty Lighthouse magazine, citing a Mark Friggins report of "The Howard Stern" show last Monday, the "Late Show" host might be pressured soon by CBS executives to up his game to beat the competition. It was also mentioned that some showrunners may start giving the host nonstop notes about what he should do next to the point that would drive him to quit and leave.

Howard Stern though was only predicting what might happen amid the continued ratings slump of the "Late Show" and what he has experienced himself when he was still with WNBC. It was not clear what CBS' stand was at the moment while their ratings have yet to improve.

CBS though has told Variety recently that they were not worried at all about late-night viewing for Stephen Colbert and even Jimmy Fallon's reign. Instead, they want to take advantage of late-night show audiences that want to stream the shows hours after it aired live.

"The late-night picture is one where everyone's number-one competitor is the play-back of primetime series," CBS' David Poltrack noted. "It's not like back in the 1990s, when Letterman and Leno went head to head."

As told by Breitbart News, the "Late Show" have yet to improve it's ratings lately. But he's not alone in the department as Trevor Noah of the "Daily Show" purportedly was suffering alongside him during Thanksgiving week.

While Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" was apparently suffering, Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" continue to rule the night.

In an article on The Hollywood Reporter written by Bill Carter, it was mentioned that the "Tonight Show's" success was unstoppable as Fallon "plays to his strength." This includes skits, impressions, unique musical numbers and games that appeal to the humor of the masses and can't help but become viral.

On Dec. 15, the "Tonight Show" even made an a capella of the "Stars Wars" theme with the cast prior to the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awaken." It already has more than four million views as of Dec. 17.
