Chelsea Handler Blasts Late-Night Past After Jimmy Fallon ‘Tonight Show’ Takeover Rumors?

Chelsea Handler seemed awfully proud of her upcoming Netflix series "Chelsea Does" and even compared its huge difference from her previous show on late-night. She spoke about the development just weeks after it was rumored that she wanted Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" job.

In a report on People, the former "Chelsea Lately" host said her new series apparently has "brain" and was much cooler.

"What I am doing for Netflix is vastly different from what I did on E!," the former "Chelsea Lately" host told the source above. "I am using my brain and working with great directors and producers. I am not being outrageous. I am going to give viewers a younger, cooler '60 Minutes.'"

During the TCA tour in July, as told by EurWeb, the docu-series also wanted to dig deeper into relevant issue. As such, the episodes will include "Chelsea Does Racism," "Chelsea Does Marriage," "Chelsea Does Silicon Valley" and "Chelsea Does Drugs."

Handler even expressed then so much excitement over the series.

"I'm willing to do anything to learn about something," she shared during the panel as cited by the source above. "I'm willing to put myself out there, and I feel like we should take advantage of that."

As Chelsea Handler told The New York Times last month and prior to the Jimmy Fallon "Tonight Show" takeover rumors, she has been envisioning change for the late-night genre.

"Change is needed in every medium at a certain point," she told the paper. "Sitting behind the desk isn't the newest thing anymore. Jimmy Fallon, he's a singer and a dancer, and that's not an easy thing to compete with."

Despite this knowledge though, Chelsea Handler has insisted that she was not interested to be a part of late-night anymore just like Jimmy Fallon.

"The last thing I would ever want to do is a late-night show," she told Sirius XM's "Radio Andy" as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "We have 15 of them now and I still don't watch any."
