Data from music tracking website Hanteo has been revealed, showing which K-pop albums sold the most copies in 2015.
The list is mostly dominated by boy groups, with the first girl group, Girls' Generation, coming at No. 12 with their album "Lion Heart," which sold 89,930 copies. Sales of Taeyeon's solo debut album, "I," nearly reached "Lion Heart" in sales.
Only three girl groups were ranked on the list: Girls' Generation, f(x), and A Pink.
The No. 1 and 2 best selling albums are EXO's "EXODUS" (including the re-release "Love Me Right") and "Sing For You Christmas Album," respectively, despite the latter only being available for sale since Dec. 10. "EXODUS/Love Me Right" sold 833,240 copies, over double EXO's "Sing For You" and more than triple the third place album, SHINee's "Odd," which sold 226,650 copies.
Other spots in the top 10 went to Super Junior, BTS, INFINITE, Seventeen, Super Junior D&E, and VIXX.
Surprisingly, Big Bang's "M," "A," and "E," series single albums ranked No. 13, No. 29, and No. 30. Their "D" album did not rank at all.
Out of the 30 albums on the list, 15 were from either SM, YG, or JYP. SM Entertainment garnered a total of 10 albums, while YG had 3 and JYP had a paltry 2 albums on the list.
Big Hit Entertainment, home of rising boy group BTS, sold a total of 341,240 copies between their "The Most Beautiful Moment In Life" parts 1 and 2, capturing nearly 10% of total album sales on the entire list.
