Saying goodbye to one year doesn't mean that we won't remember it. So even as we move into a bright 2016, let's take a moment to show our respects to those who passed in 2015.
The Korean music world has had to say goodbye to far too many talented artists and rising stars over the past year.
In February, former DSP Media trainee Ahn So Jin was found dead. The 22-year-old had gained popularity after competing on the MBC Survival Show "Kara Project" to get a spot in DSP's girl group Kara. Following the show, So Jin's contract with DSP Media ended and the rising talent took her own life. After the news of So Jin's death, fans around the world expressed their sadness on Twitter using the hashtag #RIPSojin.
August brought the loss of two talented Korean musicians. Van (Kim Kyung Min), the lead vocalist of alternative rock band Broken Valentine, passed away at the age of 33 in a drowning accident while on vacation with friends.
That same week it was reported that rock singer Do Eun Young also passed away. The singer had been preparing to release a remake of Yeon Gyu Sung's "Sad Song." The song was released posthumously as a memorial to the singer. Prior to her passing, Do Eun Young was known for her television drama soundtracks and appearing on Korean singing variety shows.
In October, former "Superstar K" contestant Kim Hyun Ji took her life in an apparent group suicide.
Our condolences to the loved ones of all who passed in 2015. May they rest in peace.
