Heize Reveals The Meaning Of Her Stage Name In The Star

Stage names are huge in entertainment and Unpretty Rapstar 2 contestant Heize has one of the most unique ones in the industry.

The rising star posed with BEAST's Junhyung for the December issue of The Star, in order to promote the sportswear brand Umbro.

During the interview, Heize, whose given name is Jang Dahye, was asked about the meaning behind her stage name.

"I'm a fan of American rapper Angel Haze. I really liked how the word 'Haze' sounded." She revealed. "That's why I looked up the word 'heize' because I had changed the spelling to match my pronunciation. It means, 'making something hot or turning something red hot' in German. I like this meaning."

The artist also discussed her past struggles to support her music career, before joining the popular Mnet rapping competition.

She explained, "I needed money to release an album. I worked part-time at a tuna restaurant, bakery, pig feet restaurant, and coffee shop. At one point, I even worked two jobs. That's how I saved money little by little and lived paying for my album and my rent."

In related news, Heize was recently named the face of global athletic brand Reebok along with Wonder Girls member Yubin.
