Rapper Swings Under Fire For Professional Activities During Medical Leave From Military

Korean rapper Swings might be in trouble with the South Korean government.

Swings (Moon Ji Hoon) was discharged from the army early due to mental health reasons in September. At that time, he stated that he would not engage in any for-profit activities for 11 months, until the initial period for his mandatory military service had ended.

However, he has been accused of giving rap lessons during this period, earning over 25 million won ($21,000 USD).

On Jan. 4, Swings's agency, Just Music Entertainment, posted a message on their official Facebook page advertising rap lessons given by Swings.

Swings stated that he will personally teach the class, which will focus on hip-hop culture and rap.

According to Korean news outlet Nate, the cost for four 1-hour classes is 300,000 won ($250 usd) and each class will have a maximum of 7 students. Swings also announced that there would be 12 rounds of classes per month.

After calculating the total, Swings stands to earn over 25 million won per month if every class is full.

However, less than two hours after the initial announcement, Just Music Entertainment announced that class registrations had concluded.

Fans of Just Music Entertainment's Facebook page have been leaving comments criticizing both the label and Swings, who is the CEO of the company.

Swings was discharged from the military in September 2015 after being diagnosed with mental health issues, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-tramautic stress disorder, depression, and bipolar disorder.
