'Sherlock' Season 4 Release Date: Sherlock season 4 will begin production soon.
Sherlock season 3 ended with a cliffhanger. Season 4 is still a ways off.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman bring Sherlock Holmes and John Watson to life. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman won two awards at the Emmy contest.
"As you know, Benedict Cumberbatch has gotten to be somewhat popular since we began our work with him and he very much wants to continue with Sherlock," PBS president Paula Kerger said in an interview with Zap2It.
"As you know, they are produced almost like films, and we're hoping the next one will be about a year from now."
An American broadcast in January 2017 could suggest that Sherlock series 4 will kick off on New Year's Day in the UK.
"I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan... we're probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock."
The new season of the BBC drama Sherlock is set to start filming in spring of 2016 and things might be getting sultry in Arthur Conan Doyle's merry old England. Is it possible that Molly and Lestrade might hook up on Sherlock Season 4?
"I think definitely Lestrade has got the hots for Molly. So maybe they'll develop that. We don't know what happens until we see the scripts, and that could literally be a couple of weeks before you film," Rupert Graves told reporters while promoting ABC's upcoming drama series The Family.
Back in July, Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat also teased about the coming heat.
"He would be on the telephone to Sherlock right away. He can't operate that well without Holmes," Moffat told Collider.
"He's not on the same level as Sherlock, but he's the best of that lot, and I sort of approach him like that. We tried to make sure that he was actually wise. Lestrade absolutely gets it. He gets what Sherlock Holmes can be on a good day, and what he might be on a bad day. That's quite a key character."
BBC recently announced that the holiday special "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride" drew 11.6 million viewers in the United Kingdom alone. The special was also a big hit in America and China.
