‘Mr. Robot' Season 2: Grace Gummer Joins Mr. Robot Season 2 As FBI Agent Dominique ‘Dom’ Dipierro

'Mr. Robot' Season 2: Grace Gummer will be joining Mr. Robot season 2 as a series regular. Gummer will play the role of FBI field agent Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, who is investigating the Evil Corp Hack masterminded by Elliot (Rami Malek).

Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep and sister of Manhattan's Mamie Gummer.

Gummer recently wrapped production on "Confirmation" for HBO Films. She also starred as Nora Ephron in Amazon's newsroom pilot "Good Girls Revolt."

Gummer's previous credits include American Horror Story, Extant, and The Newsroom. Season 2 of Mr. Robot is expected to premiere this summer.

"Mr. Robot" was one of the most nominated TV series at the Golden Globes awards. It was for best drama series and stars Rami Malek and Christian Slater each were nominated. Malek picked up a SAG Awards nomination last week, along with nominations from the Writers Guild for new series.

The show won the Golden Globe awards for best drama and Christian Slater earned a supporting actor award.

Variety reported that series creator/showrunner Sam Esmail plans to direct all 10 episodes of the show's second season himself.

Earlier this month, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail said Season 2 will clear up Mr. Robot's timeline and flesh out some backstory.

"In season two, there will be a lot more backstory that will be shown," Esmail said at the Television Critics Association press tour. "And the timeline will get a little clearer. Not a hundred percent clearer, but a little clearer."

Esmail called the 10-episode second season "really fucking dark."

During "Mr. Robot" season 1 Malek's Elliot got hooked up with a movement to take down corporate evil-doers. Elliot, a hacker, targets Evil Corp as part of "fsociety," siding with Mr. Robot, played by Christian Slater. Elliot looks for the connection is between him, Mr. Robot, and Darlene (Carly Chaikin). As Evil Corp lures Elliot's best friend, Angela, played by Portia Doubleday, while Elliot become more than just a cyber-vigilante.

Esmail kept a Season 2 spoilers close to the vest but promised "We have the writers in the room tonight."

Season 2 of Mr. Robot is expected to premiere this summer.
