Megan Fox is the "New Girl" while Zooey Deschanel takes maternity leave. The 29-year-old actress is best known for her roles in franchise films like "Transformers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,"
New Girl released a first clip of guest star Megan Fox on Monday. Fox will play Reagan, a "no-nonsense" pharmaceutical sales rep who temporarily replaces Jess in the loft.
"She's great," Series creator Liz Meriweather told Vulture. "There's something about her in this character that felt sort of new for her, and then there's something about this character on the show that felt good for us, this confident, tough-talking woman coming in to see through the guys' bullshit."
"We knew when we found out that Zooey was going to be gone for six episodes we wanted to bring somebody in and Jake had worked with Megan on Friends with Kids and had a great experience with her. What's cool is that if doesn't feel that different [without Zooey]. It definitely feels like we're in the same world."
Jake Johnson said he was worried about filming episodes while the Zooey Deschanel, was tending to her baby bump.
"I thought it was really weird," Johnson said. "At first I thought it was really jarring that Zooey wasn't going to be in some episodes. ... I wasn't sure if the show worked without her and I was pleasantly surprised that the 'New Girl' voice and tone is more about the writing and the ensemble more than any one person."
"I thought 'How does Megan Fox, international movie star. ...fit into this world?'" said Johnson. "And the wild part is she just fits in."
Fox will reprise the role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. She will also appear in Zeroville with James Franco.
Fox will debut on the "New Girl" Feb. 9 episode, the first of a five-episode arc.
