Novak Djokovic is sharpening his game back home to overthrow Roger Federer as the all-time champion in the Open Era. Many media outlets have expressed that Novak Djokovic is not far from the dominance that Roger Federer enjoyed. Maybe his wife Jelena Ristic and baby will inspire him to double his success.
The world number one wrote on his Twitter, “That feeling of coming back to your country.... #proud #excited #Serbia #BelgradeAirport #NikolaTesla.”
That definitely sounds like a man that is ready to face his greatest rival, Roger Federer. And he isn’t very far off from catching up to the Swiss in terms of Grand Slam wins and tennis domination.
“The singles final of a Grand Slam event is an ending, but in the case of Novak Djokovic's recent win at the Australian Open, it might have signaled the historic beginning of his drive to equal or surpass Roger Federer as the all-time men's Grand Slam singles champion,” according to ESPN.
Like Roger, Novak Djokovic gives credits to his new wife Jelena Ristic for his success.
“It's no secret Novak Djokovic strung together one of the finest seasons in ATP history,” according to ESPN. “He dominated so much so that he has no competition for the 2015 men's player of the year award… He collected 11 titles and reached the final in 15 of 16 events… Djokovic won three Grand Slam titles and reached the final at Roland Garros, He also captured six of the nine Masters titles and won the ATP Tour Finals trophy.”
Novak Djokovic lost to Roger Federer at ATP World Tour finals this year, but in the rest of the game, he has been clearly the dominant one in men’s tennis. Out of bitterness, he even underplayed Roger Federer’s win with a bitter comment, according to ESPN.
He said, "I made a lot of, lot of unforced errors. Just handed him the win, especially in the second set."
Those words are not something that his wife nor his baby would like to hear come out of his mouth.
Sounds like Novak Djokovic was very disappointed in himself for giving away a match that he thought he could play well.
