Radiolab Podcast Introduces Listeners to K-Papparazzi
The WNYC-funded podcast spoke to several hallyu media insiders about the differences between the news of the Korean entertainment industry versus Hollywood coverage. The episode spoke about the lifestyle of K-pop trainees and the foundations of Korean paparazzi outlet Dispatch, as well as notable events in the Korean entertainment world.
The episode came under criticism following an article published by Beyond Hallyu editor Lizzie Parker. Within the article, Parker highlighted Radiolab's oversimplification of several items discussed.
Forbes '30 Under 30 Asia' Highlights G-Dragon, Siwon, Kim Soohyun, and YoonA
Forbes' inaugural 30 Under 30 Asia list featured numerous Asian celebrities, kicking off with Big Bang's G-Dragon. The outlet called G-Dragon one of K-pop's "brightest" stars and interviewed the star.
Also featured on the list were other popular K-pop stars such as Super Junior's Choi Siwon and Girls' Generation's YoonA. Actor Kim Soo Hyun, Olympian Kim Yuna, and opera singer Lim Hyung Joo were also highlighted by Forbes for their talent and careers.
MyMusicTaste Counters Claims of Discrimination at EXO concert
Overseas K-pop event organizer MyMusicTaste took matters seriously following Korean fan accounts from EXO's concerts that alleged security and event staff were racist towards Korean fans attending the group's concerts in the United States and Canada. Following the claims, MyMusicTaste began asking for accusers to step forward so that MyMusicTaste can look into the allegations, promising to investigate the claims.
