In an recent interview, the CEO of GFriend's agency Source Music has expressed his aversion to giving GFriend a sexy concept.
In an interview with Korean media outlet IZE Magazine, Source music CEO So Sung Jin was asked a variety of questions about GFriend.
When asked about the direction GFriend would take in the future, the Source Music CEO gave an unconventional response, stating, "Many people believe that when girl groups create too much music too quickly, they run out of things to do and end up doing a sexy concept."
"However, I don't feel that way at all," So Sung Jin continued, firmly expressing his future plans for the group. "GFriend will mostly likely never do a sexy concept."
"If we continue on the path we are currently on, I believe that the group can go far," So Sung Jin stated, embellishing his response. "That's the best way to repay our fans."
The CEO was also asked about the incident that occurred earlier in 2016 when member Yuju slipped and fell multiple times during a live performance. "It turned out to be a blessing in disguise."
"Although GFriend's songs didn't reach the top 10 at first, we felt like we were going on the right path," the CEO responded. "But that day was a turning point for us."
"Because of that incident, as well as other GFriend-related content, the future of GFriend was established," So Sung Jin continued.
He then thanked the members for continuing to perform despite the dangerous conditions that day, and mentioned that his heart hurt while watching.
