'Star Citizen' PC Release Date: Crowd Funding Reaches $110 Million! Game To Be Finally Released In the First Semester?

From its previous crowdfunding raise of $70 million last January 2015, Star Citizen was already able to reach $110 million of funds as of March, PC Invasion reported. According to the report, there are already a total of 1.3 million people who invested in Star Citizen, with over 300,000 new recruits.

Despite the uncertainty of its release date, previous information shows that cash continues to flow for the game's fund which also means that fans are willing to back up the development of the game until it is released.

Campaign for "Star Citizen" PC release started way back 2012, which according to BBC, is the "most successful crowd funding of all time." The company behind the video game is Cloud Imperium, having development bases in the US, UK and Germany.

Chris Roberts (CEO of Cloud Imperium), in his previous interview with BBC, explained that despite the positive support they are getting from people, one of the pitfalls of the crowdfunding system is the uncertainty of the amount of money they might be getting.

"One of the oxymorons of crowdfunding is you're asking for money to make this game, but you don't know how much money you're going to get. Unless you just want to pocket the rest of the money, which isn't my thing at all; I want to make the best game possible," he explained.

He even added: "Games get cancelled all the time. Games get pushed back," he said.

"By the time you hear about a game, it's probably been in development for three years and already had a whole bunch of delays. There's a whole bunch of stuff that I know from when I was at EA, working with Microsoft--loads of games got cancelled, loads of games got pushed back. Things always took much longer than anyone thought. But the general public isn't aware," Roberts explained.

Fans still have to wait a little longer for this game to be finally released.
