In the official Twitter account of "Food Wars," season 2 of the popular anime series has already been announced and will be titled "Food Wars: Shokugeki no soma - The Second Plate."
It can be recalled in the first season that the last episode ended during the 43rd Annual Totsuki Autumn Election aired last September 25, 2015. The conclusion of the first season was left open-ended because it stopped at the time the preliminary round of Autumn Election finished.
According to The Inquisitr, fans should expect that the 43rd Totsuki Autumn Election will commence on the second season where the eight students who qualified from the preliminary round will be moving to the quarter finals. During the quarter finals, four dual matches will determine the victor for each pair of opponents.
Victors from the preliminary round include Sōma Yukihira, Megumi Tadokoro, Alice Nakiri, Ryō Kurokiba, Hisako Arato, Takumi Aldini, and Akira Hayama. While the eight qualifying student was not yet revelead in the last season, season two will be introducing Subaru Mimasaka, the last student who will be competing in the quarter finals.
Inquisitr furthermore discussed that Mimasaka was perceived as a student who has no specialty in cooking, and does not possess any superb cooking skills. During battles, he defeats his opponents by imitating the dish but improving it so it becomes a better version. This technique is called Perfect Trace where Mimasaka conducts extensive research about his opponent. Through his technique, he was able to collect 99 knives he acquired from all the opponents he was able to meet.
Will Soma triumph as the victor of this competition?
