Oculus-powered Samsung Gear VR continues to impress the public with over one million users recorded in April alone.
"It's been nearly six months since Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus launched worldwide," the leading virtual reality company announced on Tuesday. "Over one million people used Gear VR last month to experience the incredible collection of immersive games, videos, and experiences available on the Oculus platform."
Since its release, Samsung Gear VR has gained quite a buzz despite having strong competition from HTC Vive and Oculus Rift as well.
The gear itself only costs $100 and only requires a compatible mobile phone to work.
While the device is only available to limited Samsung mobiles including, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge, Gear VR already managed to capture the hearts of tech enthusiasts.
Following its launch, last Nov. 27, 2015, Oculus VR developers have already provided more than 250 applications for users to enjoy.
Avid fans of games like "Minecraft," "End Space," "Escape Room" and "Bait!" had the chance to enjoy their favorite games using the new technology.
Meanwhile, Digital Trends noted that top-selling applications are comprised mostly of VR videos that include, "Goosebumps Night of Scares," "EVE Gunjack," "Bandit Six: Salvo" and "Ocean Rift."
With this milestone, the Facebook-owned company has taken the opportunity to also announce the introduction of many more exciting updates for Samsung Gear VR.
"Oculus' mission is to help people experience anything, anywhere," Max Cohen, head of Oculus mobile announced. "There's the high-end experience of the Rift, of course, but there's also the portable easy-to-use version of the Gear VR. The secret [with VR] is it can't just be slightly better than other experiences that you've had. It has to be even better."
But why is it that this one million mark so important to Oculus?
Accordingly, the company is determined to not only improve the program but also bring in more developers to create amazing contents for the Samsung Gear VR users.
Cohen previously admitted that many developers were apprehensive in creating VR contents.
"They tell us, 'Give us a call when you've hit a million users,'" Cohen revealed."
Now, Oculus is positive that many developers will be encouraged to develop new contents and apps for users to enjoy.
Additionally, updated versions of the already existing 250 apps will roll out in June.
