There is a widespread news that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being eyed to play a lead role in a planned "Fast & Furious" spinoff movie.
The WWE superstar, who first joined the popular car-themed movie franchise in 2011 for the "Fast Five," is now rumored to take on a bigger role.
Seven Bucks Productions producer, Hiram Garcia, who happens to be the consulting producer of "Fast 7," gamely confirmed to Comic Book the idea of having a "Fast & Furious" spinoff completely dedicated to Johnson's Luke Hobbs character.
"I've been in the mix with Chris Morgan, the writer, really dialing in the Hobbs character, which is one of our all-time favorite characters," Garcia revealed.
In fact, according to Screen Rant, the character was created from the ideas of Garcia, Morgan and Johnson himself.
The 44-year-old wrestler turned actor, on the other hand, had previously teased the possibility of the spinoff movie.
"We all are interested in it," he revealed. "I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see. I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input."
However, everything is still in its early stages and nothing has been made final yet.
Meanwhile, the sequel to the blockbuster "Furious 7," starring Vin Diesel and the rest of the original crew is now in production. It is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who is also set to reprise his role in "Furious 8" is also busy with his other upcoming projects that include the reboot of Robin Williams' 1995 fantasy adventure film, "Jumanji," "Central Intelligence," "Baywatch" and "Moana." All of which are reportedly going to be released this year or in 2017.
