Years after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have called it quits, the ex-Hollywood couple might purportedly be fighting once again because of Scientology.
According to rumors, Katie Holmes' latest project could be interpreted by some as a jab against Scientology, which is reportedly one of the reasons why the "Dawson's Creek" actress decided to file for divorce against her "Mission: Impossible" husband.
NY Post gave a short description about Katie Holmes' newest movie.
"Carla (Holmes) is a published poet in a bout of mania that lands her in the hospital; there, she meets Marco (Luke Kirby), a fellow bipolar sufferer, who views the condition as a means to artistic enlightenment," the article wrote.
"They feed off each other's insomniac creative energy until they're separated by nervous staff, and both spiral into depression. They reunite, and the cycle begins again."
It could be recounted that Tom Cruise made headlines a decade ago for slamming Brooke Shields in connection to her post-partum depression. The actor expressed disagreement over the actress using anti-depressants, as Scientology opposes using "mind-altering drugs."
"These drugs are dangerous. I have actually helped people come off," Tom Cruise said in an interview with Access Hollywood back in 2005, as quoted by People in an article. "When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins."
"There is a hormonal thing that is going on, scientifically, you can prove that," the "Mission: Impossible" star added. "But when you talk about emotional, chemical imbalances in people, there is no science behind that. You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things."
According to speculations, there is a chance that Tom Cruise and Scientology leaders might not be reacting positively to Katie Holmes' new project.
"Given the reach and fearsome reputation of the church, it's no small gesture to see Holmes, newly freed of the shadow of Scientology, taking on a film whose messages include an unequivocal endorsement of psychiatry-let alone one with such a clear message," The Daily Beast wrote.
Tom Cruise is yet to comment on rumors that he purportedly thinks that Katie Holmes could be putting Scientology's reputation in jeopardy because of her new movie.
