With the worldwide success of the first movie, the producers of "Train to Busan 2" is pressured to make a film that is just as good as the original one. Directed by Yeon Sang Ho, "Train of Busan" became the most successful Korean movie of the year in the domestic box office of its home country.
The box office triumph of the South Korean movie has also spread all throughout Asia, making it even more popular than the last tran-Asian movie hit "Snowpiercer." According to Variety, the blockbuster success of "Train To Busan" may inspire other Asian countries to make their own zombie films.
Gong Yoo's lead performance as Seok Woo, a divorced father of a young girl, has been unanimously praised and was dubbed as one of the best things about the movie. However, in the film his character dies so it would be understandable that he would not be involved in "Train To Busan 2." But a recent development seems to indicate that he will be in the cast after all.
According to Hype Beast, "Train To Busan 2" is now confirmed and the writers have now started working on the script. It is rumored that a major story arc of "Train To Busan 2" will cover the development of possible cures for the zombie illness.
There is still no release date announced for "Train To Busan 2" but considering writing and post-production, it will be late 2017 before we can see "Train To Busan 2" in theaters. KPop Starz will be posting more updates on "Train To Busan 2" in the coming weeks.
