"Legend of the Blue Sea" which is slated to air next month marks the come back of actor Lee Min-Ho to drama after three years. Her latest drama was the phenomenal "Heirs" in 2013.
Lee will paired with the acclaimed actress Jun Ji-Hyun who was also absent for two years from drama. Both Lee and Jun were busy with the movie project. Lee will play dual role according to SE Daily, as a nobleman in the Joseon era and con artist in the present day.
"Legend of the Blue Sea" is the first drama that tells the tale of mermaid in Joseon era. Inspired by one of the story written by Joseon official and scholar Yu Mong-In (1559–1623). The mermaid story was found in his book 어우야담 (Yu Yadam = Yu Unofficial History).
For Lee, his first drama project put him in the spotlight. After finishing the "Heirs" he took on a more challenging role in the movies. He starred in a film "Gangnam Blues" playing a gangster alongside well-known actors Kim Ra-Woon and Jung Jin-Young.
His acting in "Gangnam Blues" received a praise, as he successfully portrayed a ragged man who turn to become gangster trapped in the thug of war between politicians.His acting in the movie also proves that he is not just a pretty face and flower boys, but he can act as well.
It will be fascinating to see two acclaimed actor and actress return to drama after years of absent. Prior to the premiere, "Legend of the Blue Sea" released a still image of Lee as reported by Donga News.
"Legend of the Blue Sea" is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 16. It will replace the "Jealousy Incaranate time slot as an SBS Wednesday and Thursday drama at 10:00 p.m. KST (GMT+9). International viewers can also tune in the drama through respective cable TV channel.
