The makers of “Drinking Solo” have finalized the show's final two episode this week on Monday and Tuesday Oct, 24 and 25. The drama featured the new trend of drinking alone among young Koreans.
“Drinking Solo” Episode 16 ended with a cliffhanger, which will open the opportunity for the sequel of the drama. Gong-Myung finally realized that his brother Jung-Sok and Ha-Na are really in love and his fear that Jung-Sok would hurt her was not true.
Chae-Yeon passed the exam to become the 9th grade government civil servant. While Gong-Myung and his two friends Ki-Bum and Dong-Young did not pass the exam. Cha-Yeon suddenly promised to help Ki-Bum study for the exam.
Previously, in Episode 15, Jung-Sok realized that his younger brother Gong-Myung was really serious about his intention to date Ha-Na. In order to give his brother a chance, he broke up with Ha-Na when they visit the art gallery.
Both Ha-Na and Jung-Sok were equally devastated after the break up. However, after Ha-Na was hit by a running car, Gong-Myung saw their love is real. He saw that Jung-Sok has really changed from a cold-hearted person to become a caring big brother.
The drama “Drinking Solo” reveals a new phenomena of drinking alone in the young generation of Korea. In the previous generation, someone who drink alone or 혼자술 (honjasol) was considered as having a bad personality, because nobody accompanying that person to drink.
However according to the lead male character Ha Seok-Jin in an interview with Yonhap News Agency he is not too fond to drink alone. He said that he only drink alone occassionally, and he could not enjoy drink alone like the character Jung-Sok in the drama.
Meanwhile according to Viva 100, a recent survey shows that majority of respondents at 72.1% have been drinking alone. Most of them, at 92.6%, drink alone in the house.
The favorite drink for drinking alone is beer with 74.2%, followed by soju with 28.1%.
