Lee Min-Ho has matured as actor and paired with Jun Ji-Hyun in new SBS drama “Legend of the Blue Sea” playing a many different characters. The rating for the drama is expected continunously high, as viewers anticipated two high class actor and actress meet for the very first time.
“Legend of Blue Sea” is premiered Wednesday, Nov. 16 and scored a very high rating. In the Nielsen Korea, the drama reached 16.4 percent rating, ranked 4th position and watched by 2.2 million viewers. While in TnMS it tallied 15.4 percent and also ranked 4th.
The big success of the premiere has been expected. It is because “Legend of Blue Sea”paired two acclaimed actor and actress Lee Min-Ho and Jun Ji-Hyun for the very first time. Therefore many viewers, both domestic and international, anticipated the drama.
Lee was first known as one of the flower boy in the KBS2 drama “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009 which gave him many awards including the Best New Television Actor at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards. From then on, his popularity soared.
His next project the SBS drama “City Hunter” in 2011 earned him another nomination in the Baeksang Arts Awards and followed by another SBS drama “The Heirs” in 2013.
His acting skills is really tested in the movie “Gangnam Blues” in 2015. Originally, the producer and director Yoo Ha was reluctant to cast him due to his image as a flower boy. After a long consideration, finally Lee was cast to play in the movie.
Lee showed a high class acting as a rags to riches gangster in the “Gangnam Blues.” He won three awards for the movie in the 19th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, 52nd Grand Bell Awards and 36th Blue Dragon Film Awards.
“Legend of the Blue Sea” also reunites Lee Kim Sung-Ryung who played with his mother in “The Heirs” as reported by Seoul Daily News . Kim will make a cameo appearance in his new drama as someone who has a relationship with Lee character.
