'Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned' performs well on second week

The movie “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned,” which stars Kang Dong-Won, performed well on its premiere. The movie gained a total of 357,270 viewers on the first week of its showing and ranked in third place for the box-office weekend.

Now, “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” is now in second place on its second week on the weekend box-office, according to Yonhap News Agency. The premiere tallied 208,170 admissions.

After a strong first weekend, the attendance was declining to 73,276 people on Sunday, November 20, from 683 screens all across Korea to according to Stoo News . Total admissions of the “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” reached 357,270 audience. Reaching the number three box office position after the Harry Potter’s spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and Marvel’s “Dr. Stranger.”

The movie is the seventh movie released this year by Showbox/Mediaplex studio. The studio is known for its high quality movies such as “Assasination,” “Gangnam Blues,” “The Throne,” and the recent box-office hits “Tunnel.”

In the movie, Kang starred as a 12-year old boy named Sung-Min, who was trapped in an adult body. Kang played alongside a talented child actress Shin Eun-Soo, who was cast as Su-Rin the little girl, a close friend of Sung-Min.

The story began when they and several friends take a walk to the woods. In the woods, they searh or a magical egg, which according to local folklore, can turn the child into an adult. Afterward, all the kids have disappeared except Su-Rin. She is the only one who survived.

Police searched the area and believed this is the case of kidnapping. However, they found no evidence of the missing children. Few days later, a grown up man come to meet Su-Rin and he said that he is Sung-Min.
