How can KBS' ‘My Fair Lady (Oh My Geum-Bi)’ compete with ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ from SBS?

“My Fair Lady (Oh My Geum-Bi)” is a tearful drama with a slight touch of comedy. However, it trailed very far behind the SBS drama “Legend of the Blue Sea” in viewership ratings. What could be possibly needed to boost its ratings?

The drama is written by the infamous script writer Jeon Ho-Sung and directed by Kim Young-Jo. Both writer and director do not have a track record to create a good drama. In his 11 years of career, Kim only directed seven dramas, including “My Fair Lady (Oh My Geum-Bi).”

Furthermore, the drama has to compete in the Wednesday and Thursday night drama with “Legend of the Blue Sea” in the same time slot of 10:00 PM. This has become another difficult task for KBS promotion team to boost its ratings.

According to Yonhap News Agency, it is simply impossible to compete with “Legend of the Blue Sea” in the ratings which has reached 18.9 percent nationwide and 22.1 percent in the Seoul Metropolitan Area.

KBS drama “My Fair Lady (Oh My Geum-Bi)” has only been able to outscore “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” in the bottom level with only 5.5 percent. However, there is one niche which can be used to lift the ratings of the drama. That niche is the great acting skill of child actress Heo Jung-Eun who plays Geum-Bi.

The 11-year-old actress has shown her improved acting skills. According to KBS, Heo is able to portray a wide range of emotions. The drama “My Fair Lady (Oh My Geum-Bi)” is her 10th drama after she debuted when she was just a 6-year-old little girl in 2006.

Heo's acting continue to improveand she is now recognized as one of the renown child actress in Korea. In the drama she plays alongside Oh Ji-Ho who plays her father.
