BTS is one of Kpop's most recognized groups internationally and have attracted the attention of many other artists. Most recently, American rapper Wale decided to drop BTS's name in one of his new freestyles!
The freestyle, titled 'Folarin Like', uses the instrumental from another track- 'Nas Is Like'- which was first released in 1998 by rapper Nas. Below are the lyrics that contain reference to BTS:
"Foreign features from South Korea
BTS be the sh*t, we about to see it
I am not North or South
I am just DMV"
BTS fans were quick to pick up on the reference to the group 2 minutes and 26 seconds into the track. You can take a listen to Wale's spitfire rap and BTS reference below:
This year has undoubtedly been the biggest for BTS since their debut. Not only did their second studio album, 'Wings' break local and international records, their title track 'Blood, Sweat And Tears' attracted a lot of foreign attention for it's music video visual appeal and unique instrumental.
Adding to their success was the win of not one, but two Daesang awards. They won Album Of The Year and Artist Of The Year at the Melon Music Awards 2016 and MAMA 2016 respectively.
With BTS's rapidly growing international reputation, there is no stopping them from becoming Kpop's top group.
