SECRET Jun Hyosung Apologizes for 'Democratization' Comments

SECRET's Jun Hyosung offered a public apology for her remarks on a radio show. On May 14, after controversy erupted over her use of the word 'democratization' on radio show, 'Power Time,' Jun Hyosung made an apology on her Twitter.

SECRET's leader tweeted, "I apologize for the misuse of a word on today's 'Power Time.'"

She added, "I am deeply sorry for using a word without knowing the exact meaning of it. I am sorry and I will be careful to not let this happen again. Again, I apologize."

The controversial comment made by Jun Hyosung was as follows. Asked about team chemistry and how each member brings out her unique character without disrupting the overall balance of the team, Jun Hyosung replied, "We are a team that respects each member's unique colors, so there is no democratization movement here." The word democratization is commonly misused among teens to define a process in which people or things are prompted to be more similar to one another. As a democratic country which saw numerous lives lost in obtaining freedom against military regimes, the seemingly minor slip created a major disturbance among Internet communities.
