Taiwanese newspaper Liberty Times recently announced its report on Hallyu popularity in Taiwan. Tzuyu is on top of the list among K-Pop idol while “Descendants of the Suns” is taking over the drama.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Tzuyu tops the list as the most popular K-Pop idol. The newspaper Liberty Times conducted the research based on the Internet search and social media engagement. The newspaper unveiled its report on Monday, Dec. 26.
“Descendants of the Sun” lead actor Soong Jong-Ki took the second place, while his co-star actress Song Hye-Kyo is in the third position. Fourth position is taken by TWICE, while JYJ member Park Yu-chun and Park Bo-Gum is in the fifth and sixth place respectively.
Tzuyu is the youngest (막내/mangnae) member of TWICE with Chaeyoung. She was born in Tainan, Taiwan on June 14, 1999. In February 2015, she participated in the “Sixteen” competition reality show in Mnet to pick the members of new girl group from JYP Entertainment.
She was the viewers’ favorite among the sixteen participants. By the end of the show, the remaining seven contestants are Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung. She was added to the formation along with Momo to make the nine-member girl group which was named TWICE.
The group is famous with their debut single “Like Ooh Aah” and followed by “Cheer Up” from their debut album. This year they scored a big hits with “TT.”
TWICE has gained huge popularity in either Korea or overseas this year. This year-end, they have a busy performance schedule. Recently TWICE appeared in “SBS Gayo Daejeon” the annual year-end music program broadcast as reported by MBN on Dec. 26.
