TWICE, BTS top the Ga-On music chart for 2016

Girl group TWICE and boy group BTS topped the Ga-On music chart this 2016. The new girl group from JYP Entertainment and the Bangtan Boys BTS have scored best sellers for single and LP.

Executive from the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA) which operates Ga-On operator released the report as quoted by Yonhap News Agency. Based on the accumulated sales data from January to November and two charts, Gaon's 2016 Digital Chart and Album Chart, they topped the list for single and LP. TWICE tallied the highest score in the single chart with "Cheer Up, " and BTS topped the album chart in their LP "Wings."

BTS outscored EXO's third album "EXACT" which ranked 2nd in the album chart. Their previous album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Young Forever" also made the 3rd position.

In the single chart, "Cheer Up" ranked 1st followed by GFriend "Rough" in the second place. The third position was claimed by MC the Max's "No Matter Where." While two OST from the drama "Descendants of the Sun" made the fourth and fifth positions, Davichi's "This Love" and Gummy with "You are My Everything."

2016 has become the year of success for TWICE and BTS. They both are also won the vote as world's favorite idols from the KBS World Radio as reported by KBS News. The award was awarded based on the vote from KBS World Radio listeners around the world.

BTS released their album "Wings" in October and quickly topped the chart in Korea and international. Recently they just won the Grand Prize (Daesang) award as 'Artist of the Year' at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards early December.

Meanwhile, TWICE gained bigger attention when they released their second EP "TWICEcoaster: LANE 1" which consist of seven songs. Their extended play album made "TT" as their main single. The song quickly gained attention from the audience with its catchy tune.
