EXO and its sub-unit sells more than 2 million album in 2016

EXO is reported to sell more than 2 million album within 2016. Recently, they just released the new Christmas album titled “For Life” in the middle of this month.

Their third album ,”Ex'Act” released last March and its repackaged version “LOTTO” which was released in August has sold 1.45 million copies according to Seoul Daily News. While its Christmas album “For Life” has sold 425,000 copies.

EXO’s agency SM Entertainment has also created a sub-unit of the nine-member group called EXO-CBX in October. The name CBX is an acronym of its members Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin. They released extended play “Hey Mama!” on Oct. 31 which has sold 276,000 copies.

Three days before EXO-CBX released their album, another member Lay also released his solo EP “Lose Control” which was also gained commercial success. According to Yonhap News Agency, the EP raked in 260,000 copies in sales.

Strong album sales showed that fans have a little effect with the departure of the group’s three members, Kris, Luhan and Tao. The three of them departed from EXO with a big commotion caused by a long legal dispute. However, SM Entertainment is able to capitalize the remaining members of the group and focus on the advancement of the group.

EXO has become one of the most popular K-Pop group in Asia. Sinnce their debut in 2012, the twelve-member group is easily recognized with their catchy tune and dance coreography. Initially SM Entertainment made two sub-units of the group, EXO-K and EXO-M. The first sub-unit, EXO-K sang the song in Korean language while EXO- M in Mandarin. Each sub-unit consist of six members from the respective country.

However, after three members of EXO-M left the group, the agency formed another sub-group in EXO-CBX. The sub-unit group has also performed well in album sales.
