Former EXO member Luhan released a new single ”'Catch Me When I Fall' on Oct. 23. Along with the song, he also published music video of the song that reflect his experience after departed from SM Entertainment and his vision of growing up.
Luhan’s single “Catch Me When I Fall” is an honest confession of Luhan and the music video explained his feeling after being legally free from the obligation to his former agency SM Entertainment.
“They keep telling me I am the chosen one, so I have to act like one,” the lyrics said in Mandarin. “It is hard to confess weakness, even they are more than I can take”
Luhan was a member of Korean boy group EXO, managed under from SM Entertainment formed in 2011. He came to South Korea to study music in the Seoul Institute of Art. Prior to his coming to Korea, he auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2008 but he was unsuccessful.
When he was studying in Korea, Luhan was scouted by SM Entertainment and since 2010 he became trainee for the agency. In 2011, SM Entertainment introduced Luhan with three other members as a the Mandarin sub-unit of EXO called EXO-M.
Three years later, Luhan and Kris filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment which restricted his activity. After two years in a long legal battle, finally in July this year, Kris and Luhan settled the dispute as reported by Korea Herald.
Many entertainment agencies have been under criticism for exploiting their talent. On the other hnd the South Korean artists were also under public scrutiny for overworked, as reported by OM News. The latest recorded incident was EXO member Lay who was fainted on Oct. 11 because he didn’t get enough sleep. He was fainted during the trip to Incheon International Airport.
One terrible incidents was the death of famous violinist Kwon Hyuk Joo in a taxi on Oct. 12, a day after Lay’s fainted. The 31-year violinist died in Busan and he is suspected to over exert himself. Luhan was lucky to be able to get out of the unfavorable situation.
