‘Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth’ Episode 5 and 6: The Six Young Men Are Now The Elite Warrior For The Shilla Kingdom

KBS period drama “Hwarang” entered the third week of airing. The six young men who came from different background are now the member of elite warriords for the kingdom of Shilla.

After having a conflict between some of them, finally the six men is united as a member of Hwarang, the elite warrior established for the very first time in the Shilla kingdom under the supervision of Kim Wi-Hwa as the first chief of Hwarang. In its official synopsis, KBS World describes the six members of the elite warriors which was inaugurated in the sixth episode.

They are Seon-Woo who is known as Dog-Bird, who came from a low class. Then, two men who always engage in a fight everytime they see each other, Kim Soo-Ho and Park Ban-Ryu. Two mysterious men Han-Sung and Jo Yunu also joined, along the king Sam Maek-Jong who secretly became the member.

The drama also put another spice into the plot, a love triangle. The complicated love story between A-Ro and two Hwarang Seon-Woo and the undercover king Sam Maek-Jong began to heat up according to Seoul Daily News. The untrustworthy young king Maek-Jong started to fall in love with A-Ro since the Episode 4. While in the Episode 5 aired Monday, Jan. 2 he took his chance to kiss and surprised A-Ro .

Episode 5 also showed some fierce competition which lead between them. They tend to mock each other and they can easily engage in a fight. But after the inauguration in the Episode 6, they are now on the same path and expected to help each other.

In terms of rating, the third week’s episodes of “Hwarang” still struggle to reach 10 percent of ratings. The fifth and sixth episodes are only able to gain 7.6 and 8.0 percent in the AGB Nielsen Korea respectively. While in TnMS ratings, the ratings are 7.4 and 7.6 percent.
