The SXSW Festival announced last January 23 additions to the lineup for KPOP Night Out. The event has been running for 5 years and will now be getting some of the biggest names in the Korean Industry.
The South by Southwest Festival or SXSW is an annual conglomerate of music festival, film and interactive media that take place mid march of every year. This event began since 1987 and has been growing ever since.
According to Billboard, South by Southwest Festival or SXSW previously announced that their lineup for the festival are Galaxy Express, Big Phony, No Brain, Busker Busker and Idol Singer Hyorin. In addition to these amazing artists, SXSW announced that SM Entertainment Idol Group Red Velvet, Hip Hop Icons Drunken Tiger and Korean rapper and singer Yoon Mi Rae will also join the lineup. Each act in the festival represents different types of music.
Galaxy Express, one of the artists lined up for the festival, is a garage rock bank that was formed last 2006. This is not the first time the group was invited to the festival as they performed during 2011 and 2012 festivals.
South Korean band Busker Busker is also scheduled to perform in the festival. Busker Busker is an indie rock band who rose to fame through the third season of the audition program "Superstar K". The group achieved success after becoming a runner up and releasing their first single "Cherry Blossom Ending".
As representatives of Hip Hop, Rapper and singer Yoon Mi Rae and Tiger JK was invited to perform in the festival as well. The two rappers are currently members of MFBTY.
Idol singers are also represented in the showcase and this year they have invited girl group Red Velvet and Sistar's Hyo Rin. Red Velvet is scheduled to make a comeback on February 2017 and fans are excited to see what they have in store.
Previously, the festival invited artists such as f(x), MAMAMOO, Epik High and more. According to Koreaboo, the showcase will be on March 17 at Austin, Texas.
